Hear Me

I don’t know what to write
What words?
in what order?

Will make a person think?
Change a person’s mind?
Wake a person up?

to the dark realities of our societies
to the share experiences of people
to the interconnections of lives

How can I take my heart from my chest
and place it upon the page 
for another to read

and Absorb my essence 
Feel my truth 
Hear my emotions  
 
Will I ever achieve such a feat?
Will any of us?
I don’t know if it’s even possible. 

A friend of mine got an assignment to start a poem with the words “I don’t know” so I thought I’d take my own crack at it. Written and revised March/June 2020.
